Protein Question?!

Just wondering, at what point in the day do you guys/gals like to reach the 100 gram mark for your protein intake???

Generally at the point it is most convenient. I like to have pre-post workout protein and at post-cardio protein. Sometimes I like to have egg whites fried in olive oil at night. Other than that, it really doesn't matter when protein is ingested.

Yeah... sometimes I have yolk with it, and I always put tabasco sauce on it. If I have it early enough, I have fat-free kraft shredded cheddar in it --- this allows me to absorb zinc+magnesium later on.

Before i would reach that amount by lunch time, and pass it a little. Right now at my 4 meal (around 4 P.M.)

I'm always learning with you Plornive.

Calcium hinders the absorption of zinc or magnesium, I don't know which one (or is it both?). That's why I don't have cheese at the same time as I take zinc+magnesium at night.

Plornive, do you add any vitamin B6? I'm not sure, but isn't that the way the ZMA is made?
I started taking some magnesium lately. I am taking sulphate zink and recently magnesium orotate.

I find this the other day, copy and pasted to a note book but forget to note the source:

"The best forms of supplemental magnesium seem to be the ones chelated to an amino acid (magnesium glycinate, magnesium taurate) or a krebs cycle intermediate (magnesium malate, magnesium citrate, magnesium fumarate). These forms seem to be better utilized, absorbed, and assimilated. Try to stay away from inorganic forms of magnesium like magnesium chloride or magnesium carbonate because they may not be absorbed as well and may cause gastric disturbances.

Dietary fiber impairs magnesium absorption to a small extent so magnesium should not be consumed with any fiber source. Food sources of magnesium include nuts, legumes, and soybeans..."

With all this "knowledge" i just found the orotate...it has very little elemental magnesium per pil...about 10 mgs.

Any idea on the dosage of zinc and magnesium?

Wow, thanks for the information... it went way above my head:)

Recently I have been taking ZMA from ISS research. It contains:
Zinc (l-monomethionine and aspartate) 30 mg 200%
Magnesium (aspartate) 450 mg 113%
Vitamin B6 10.5 mg 525%

I'm pretty clueless about it --- I just bought the cheapest form of ZMA that looked decent. It's about $10 US for a one month supply.

Zinc can be dangerous (toxic)
don't take more than 50mg

and Zn aspartate is one of the best forms of Zinc
