Protein intake while on?

What rule of thumb do you guys use for protein intake while trying to cut? I have been taking 300 grams and I weigh 200 lbs. Keeping carbs to about 150
 
300g is more than enough for someone at 200 pounds. That's about double the recommendation for strength training athletes.
 
I personally don't think going above 1.5 g of protien per lb of body mass a day has any benefit other than the additional calories.

Yep...I think it's even lower...but while on cycle, it's better safe than sorry.
 
Everyone eating more than 1.5 grams per pound needs to do themselves an anabolic favor and cut back the protein and eat more carbs!
 
lbs....the only coversion of lbs to kilos is 2.2lbs equal 1 kilo...hmmm i wonder how i figured that one out,,being from columbia and all :verygood:
 
There is no correct answer numb nuts...we all do not respond the same as others...The diet that I'm following was designed by swolecat, and this is what he suggested that I do...I take in 70 grams of protein every 2-2.5 hours...

No correct answer? From the studies I've seen, there is most definitely a correct answer. Of course not everyone reacts differently to everything, but certainly everyone falls within a given range...

You're talking 70g every 2 hours only during waking hours, right? I sure hope so.

YES !!! I would go broke otherwise...But I eat 7 times per day
 
I guarantee if you had your waste products analyzed, you'd find alot of nitrogen being pissed and shit away. That's way too much protein IMO.
 
well sometimes I only get 390 per day, but that is the minimum on training days...As I said swolecat made this program for me based on my stats...and he increased it over the course of a couple months{I need to hire him again}...By the way have you seen the incredible transfromations this man helps poeple with ?...I may drop the protein down and up the carbs a little but this has worked rather well...It has kept me from getting super blaoted which I'm real bad about while bulking.
 
umm i weigh 225 at 14%. im looking to lose a bit of body fat while putting on a bit of muscle. im on the second week of my first cycle and im a poor student. its hard for me to get a million grams of protein into me.. i eat tuna and salmon and try to stay away from carbs.. other then that anyone have any suggestions on how to keep carbs fairly low and protein high?

on = as much clean protin as possible while fixing carbs and fats..........

then off = 1.5 per pound, while fixing carbs and fats.......

I get that much because inside my diet I eat 8 chicken breasts a day along with 4 pro shakes and 2 cans of tuna among other things so it isnt hard to reach that nimber once you get used to that much food. Its been good so far Ive been on this diet for about 6 months. Went from 250 to 270 bf went from 13 to 14.4%.
 
I say 1.5 is the minimum and 2g per lb is optimum at all times on or off

Its also important to get a good amount of your protein from real food not just pounding shakes all day.

I thinks it's a hell of a lot too, and I would strugle to eat that much I think. but like bulldog says, if it works for you then it can't really be disputed. Good luck to you man :)

I take in about 250g of protein per day. 90g from shakes (2x 45g) I'm 6' and 210lbs, bf% around 13% currently.

jubei, well I'm not going to kiss your ass here by any means, but I will apologize for my comments{sorry}...but I also feel you should apologize to me and SC...I mean I'm no slacker when it comes to diets...I write them out for people on a weekly basis...I tried swoles program because I wanted to try something different and it was good for me...You can not argue with the SC and his cleints, they ALL get results... And I never claimed to look awesome, but I don't look to bad either...
 
Muscleup, I think you can progress on your diet, but I think you could progress much more if you changed things up a bit.

I think if you cut back your protien to say 1.5 grams per pound, and upped your carbs/healthy fats you would get better results, and save yourself money.

Unless your on 2grams+ of gear per week, I don't think your body can make use of more than 1.5grams per pound of protien.

Honestly. Ive eaten at 1.25 grams per pound of protein and 2+ and I noticed zero difference in results.

something to consider, but it's not like I'm not eating carbs...I'm getting around 450- 500 of those per day as well...very clean low GI carbs...except for my dextrose PWO...

The 490 grams of protein is extreme, his amounts should not be that high, don't know where he's getting that figure from, but I've asked him to contact me.........even if it were what I recommend, check the scoreboard "brother", you can't touch what I've touched, can't flip what I've done flopped, couldn't hit what I done shot, couldn't tip what I've done topped.............

I post a short and sweet little post and it turns out to be a testosterone war.... SWEET! :) Thanks for everyones input. My 300 grams sounds to be perfect. If I am taking in a little too much, probably just shitting the unneeded protein out.

Well thats good then. I dunno. If it works for you, more power to you, but I think for most people it would not work. Nor would most people want to spend that much money on protien.
