Protein: Good v.s Bad quality.. Need some help!

I'm probably like most people who are skeptical about what type of protein they buy. All the hype about top brand products being the best, how can I determine if another low brand product will work just as well? I know reading a label doesn't really do much good, when it comes down to the quality of what i'm buying

I know the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for", but how can I determine wether or not a certain protein brand will actually do just as good as a job as a top brand out there? Besides trying it :)

Any suggestions?

Sorry for the stupid question, I'm just wondering that's all.

cheap

For whey... I usually get hdt(30 bucks/5 lb.) I also get a cheap ass $5 gnc challenge brand milk/egg protein, I love to mix that stuff w/ my oatmeal for breakfast.

I would prefer to use a milk-egg-whey mix protein, but I'm poor too, so I usually end up buying the 5lb jugs of optimum whey. I try to consume it with other forms of protein for a slower absorbtion rate.-WULF

I agree with johnboy, isopure by nature's best is good shit, 50 grams protein and 300 calories in water. Whewedoggie, that's got me thisty for some protein boys.
