I know it is once you figure in divorce, alimony & child support! I could buy a few different high class prostitutes a week with what I pay.
Actually I htink it would be a good way to cut down on rape & molestation. Maybe sexual predators would just simply go to the local whorehouse.

Listen, I wan't condoning prositution. I am against it for numerous reasons. I was just making a weak attempt at humor. People that rape and molest are sickos and enjoy doing that it is not about the sex. It is about power and subversion.

Plainly put, it needs to be stressed that hookers are selling A SERVICE. They are not selling their souls, or entire being, for those 30 / 300 / whatever bucks.
I used to know a woman who was a hooker in London for a few years, but because it's very illegal down there (as opposed to Scotland, where they don't prosecute) she was fucked over by many assholes who beat her up (and it wasn't part of the deal discussed beforehand), wanted her to do friends or pets (!), or share her with friends without paying extra, ripped off by fuckers who didn't pay, being raped by guys who refused to accept the "no condom no nookie" rule, etc. Eventually the danger factor pushed her into strip clubs instead, not as well paid I believe, It wa her choice of profession, for various reasons.
Having it legal means you can have brothels with door security, panic buttons etc in case any weirdo decides to demand "special services" without asking first.
A woman who sells her body deserves the same treatment as a woman who is selling anything else. I'm in favour of prostitution being a wholly legal, professional, nonexploitative service, leaflets describing services offered at the door etc. Paying a hooker isn't a licence to do whatever you wanted without discussing the cost first.... imho....

danielson said:yeah it aint a proffesion. not unless they develop a degree for it. that will be a truly great day. indeed
but legalisation makes more sense. the prozzys in melbourne generate 2,5million in tax i tink.

I have no problem with it being legalized, it should not be a crime, since there is no infringement on another's rights.
But I would not classify this profession as equal as any other mainstream professions, such as lawyer, doctor, salesperson, etc. She would still be a whore, no two ways about it.

She would be providing satiation for a biological or psychological urge. many of our service industries attempt to do that (food services, entertainment venues, etc), it would be a valid profession

Soooo.....your point is???![]()

I guess my point is that legalizing prostitution wouldn't lower rape and molestation. Dudes that do that do that not only for sex but for perversion and power over the women or child. I also think it degrades women and causes the spread of more diseases.
