prostate problems

Hey all,
My pops just told me he has some kind of elevated blood count indicating prostate problems (he doesnt juice). Would finasteride or saw palmetto help him? Do Docs even know about how finasteride helps prostate?

Yes,a GP prescribed me Proscar several years ago for BPH(benign prostate hyperplasia).I know it's unpleasant,but have pops go in for a prostate exam.If it's enlarged,the finasteride will help greatly.
