First off I was born with a bad hair line. I'd thought about taking something when I start my winter deca/bulker cycle. I've read a little bit on Dutastride too. Deca just makes my hair fall alot alot more for some reason. I'm getting mixed reviews weather you can take this on cycle. He's a few things I'm hearing.
"Were you aware that deca is reduced by enzyme 5-ar to an androgenically weaker metabolite? Therefore, by using finasteride and blocking this process, you are actually increasing the risk of hair loss.
Testosterone as we know is converted by 5-ar to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This binds strongly to AR in scalp and prostate tissues so is something that would want to be avoided by those seeking to minimise hairloss. Deca by contrast, is converted to dihydronandrolone (DHN), which is a less androgenic metabolite than its parent hormone.
Whether you use finasteride or not depends on your cycle as a whole. If it is Deca only, then you do NOT want to be using finasteride with it."
"I use finasteride and/or dutasteride all the time with test/deca and I experience virtually zero hairloss. And I am prone to MPB. Works absolutely fine for me, I don't know anyone who has ever complained on increased hairloss from fina/duta while on deca. Seems like a myth that continues to be perpetuated. IMO."
"Nandrolone has a very favourable anabolic to androgenic ratio; so much so that the phenylprop version is favoured by women users due to its very low virilising effects. This being the case, hair loss is not normally too problematic from deca so anyone concerned with MPB has deca on his list of possibles. That said, if you have had problems with deca previously, (unless you ran other compounds in conjunction) then you must be very prone to hairloss and must come to terms that your rate of loss will increase from using pretty much any steroid."
"Can you use proscar with deca? Yes. It depends on the cycle as a whole.
If the cycle is test/deca, then the benefit derived from the reduction in levels of DHT imo outweighs the negative effect that proscar has in respect of the reduced conversion of deca to the dihydro form."
"Ppl who intend to use with deca alone are advised against the idea from what we know of the pharmacodynamics and metabolic processes that occur with nandrolone.
I'm sure they'll be many who have used with deca either because:
a) they don't know any better
b) they are using other drugs that are negatively influenced by 5-ar
Personal user experience is all well and good but I'm sure you'll agree steroid use is not black and white and when it comes to steroids and hairloss effects in different users, the effects are very wide ranging indeed, mainly due to our own genetic pre-desposition to the condition. Therefore, what we need to do is avoid making blanket assumptions based on one or two personal experiences which have little to do with our own situation (re the genetics), and base decisions more on what we know of the drugs and the metabolites that they are responsible for."
Can someone please help me make heads or tails out of this, or point me out in the right direction.
