Promoting your website.

Anyone have any ideas on getting more traffic to your website?

I was looking through www.clickbank.com market place and found a lot of different promotion tools. They range from $50-$150 using different methods with email, submitters and search engines.

I'm interested in buying a report that claims to give your site a top 5 ranking in google. Anyone ever try anything like this?

make friends with dj's and talk show hosts... someone brings it up casually you will get thousands of hits.

Actually, my company sells a book-like product.

I have a friend who is a publicist. We are paying her to get us about 200 radio and TV availabilities to sell the product through our website.

I will let you guys know how it goes. They had me booked for an interview today but I told them to shift it to Monday when I would have my talking points in order. 30 minutes is a lot of time to fill.

Has anyone here used clickbank? After looking at the site it seems as though every webpage has the same format. Is this just a place to adverstise besides your orginal website??
Boss, Have you published an ebook?

I use clickbank. Good stuff.

Are you adversitising with google adwords? If not that's pretty much the first step.

You'll quickly find out which words are the most profitable for your product/service and once you find that out you can construct the rest of your advertising around those words.

As for that report you're talking about, sounds like scam. They'll probably give you a top 5 ranking in something that nobody is searching for. But if you have an auto site, I don't see how they could promise you a top 5 site ranking while Ford + others are pouring millions of dollars a year into it in order to compete.

1) advertise on message boards. people spend half their days on them. Plus they're cheap.

2) Make your site title a bit more noticable.

meaning:

If you search for anyting in google. 99% of the results of the main title text are like:

Travel.com | Your hot spot

Welcome to travelnet..

Travel Made Easy (US)

Change yours to :

==> TravelNetUSA <== (c) 2004

or something. It'll grab the person's eye a bit more and look like something that is probably pretty polished and legit. Hence, more clicks.

There are some good ways to effectively promote your webpage
1. Pay for it (search engine submissions, etc.)
2. Have a popular or controversial image that draws new users to your page or causes loyal users to return to it (like EF).
3. Get other lots of other sites to link to yours
4. Good marketing. Get your name out on TV or radio. Club someone famous wearing a shirt with your URL on it during an public event. ;)
