Prolotherapy for injuries - does it work?

Zyglamail has been preaching the healing abilities of that for a while. He had some great results from what I remember him saying.

Yeah I remember reading about zygmail's experiences with it, but I want some more stories.

I mean, you never know when some one person might just be working in it and wants to promote it everywhere.

I had ever worsening tendonits in my left elbow and just a generally achy left shoulder. I had seen the normal doc about but she was of no help, suggested I quite lifting but told her it wasnt going to happen. It was so bad simply pushing open a door at a store or something left my elbow throbbing for hours. I took a couple weeks off lifting and took tons of ibuprofin and naproxin in hopes of helping it but within a week of going back to training I was in agony again.

I went in for prolo and would take the end of the week of that I got treatment, usually a wed or thursday. You need a couple days to rest after treatment cause it does leave you quite sore. Then the following week I was back in the gym. The whole time my elbow and to a lesser degree my shoulder just kept getting better. Now I would say its at 99% after I think it was 5 treatments. Treatments are about 4 weeks apart so its not a quick fix, but it is a fix and I would do it again if need be.

PROLO

i'VE HAD SOME SOME IN MY LEFT LEG, RIGHT SHOULDER.
IT SEEMED TO HELP GET RIDE OF THE PAIN. IT IS WHAT THE ABOVE SAID AFTER 5 TREATMENTS IT GETS BETTER. A PHYSIATRIST
INJECTS AROUND THE LIAGMENTS AND TENDONS WITH A SUGAR SOLUTION. FAKES AN INJURY. THE BODY LAYS DOWN MAST CELLS WHICH CONVERT TO WHAT EVER TISSUE YOU NEED. IE LIAGMENT
THE JOINT GETS STRONGER. I AM WONDERING IF SOMEONE HAS DONE GEAR AS WELL,AND HAS IT HELPED.

It definitely works, I've had it done. In fact, for many injuries/problems it's the ONLY thing that really works. The tough part is finding a doc in your area that does it.

After 5 treatments it gets better? Thats 5 months at the earliest! How serious was your injury?

My injury is nothing that gets in the way too much in my normal life, I just can't use much strength in my left arm. I don't feel pain unless I move my arm near its flexibility limit.

As you stated it triggers the bodies own healing and tendon/ligiment damage takes a long time to heal. On a scale of 1-10 on how I would rate my injury as far as pain and effect it had on my dialy life I would have rated it a 9+ (10 being worst). I couldnt even curl 20lbs the pain was so bad.

It seems like a long time, but what are your options? It slowly heals the whole time and improves week by week.

I had an noticible improvement after the very first treatment and a HUGE improvement after the second. I think I went 3 or 4 weeks between treatments. I continued to work out through treatments other then the first few days after treatment. So down time from bb'ing was minimal. As far as I'm concerned the stuff's like a miracle, as has already been stated I also couldn't lift anything without severe pain before the treatments.

Sounds good.

So how did you guys go about finding a real legit doctor for prolotherapy? From my experience, 90% of the doctors I go to are either quacks or just don't care. I'm really careful these days about which doctors i visit so I don't waste money.

I live in the South Bay(in LA county) in CA by the way, so any suggestions for doctors around that area would be much appreciated.

start at prolotherapy.com I think they have a search engine, there are only 2 in my state that I know of, hopefully you will be as lucky. Additionally there are some books on prolo, one is called "prolo your pain away" which has a list of docs in it as well. Prolo docs usually think a bit outside the box and are more geared toward sports injuries and such.

DOH!

I looked at prolotherapy.com. they have 2 in CA. one is 6 hours away, the other is over and hour away.

I called this number listed on the site for more info, but they said there is a $10 charge just for if they tell you a list of prolo specialists around your area!!
