Prednisone...?

Is this stuff a 17aa? I have taken it a few times when I got poisoon ivy pretty bad. I was just curious whether its potentially harmful to the liver like oral aas's

it's an oral steroid given to patients will skin problems ie, poison ivy, shingles, etc. but it doesn't work on your muscles like regular steroids do. I have taken it a few times myself. From what I know it will increase your appetite and cause you to gain weight. However, I believe that it is actually catabolic toward your muscles.

After looking at about 8 different sites, I didn't find anything that said that it was a 17aa steroid or caused serious damage to the liver. However, I did find this:

"Prolonged therapy with prednisone causes the adrenal glands to atrophy and stop producing cortisol. When prednisone is discontinued after a period of prolonged therapy, the dose of prednisone must be tapered (lowered gradually) to allow the adrenal glands time to recover. "

Thanks. I realize its not anabolic. Thats not why I asked. I was jut curious how many times i have actually stressed my liver with 17aa meds.

My sister was on this shit after some kind of surgery (prescription), and she went batshit insane, literally. Incredible depressions, speaking in tongues, the whole nine yards. Apparently, one of the serious allergic reactions you can have is "psychotic episodes."

its not liver toxic, it doesn't require 17a alkylation and is minimally if at all harmful to the liver
