pre-workout oatmeal

How do you guys feel about oatmeal w/ whey about 2 hours before lifting? beneficial? can it hurt me?
 
Any reason to not use it when cutting? and how close to a workout is too close, if my workouts are geared around fat burning?
 
I'd say two hours is a good time frame to allow for proper digestion, etc.,

I have always kept carbs (typically in the form of oatbran, about 2 hrs. pre-workout) in my cutting cycles and never really noticed any problems with consistently lowering my bodyfat. In the long run, I suppose it actually helped (in terms of muscle preservation and endurance during heavy lifting).
