Pre workout meal/drink.....???

I was wondering how many of you guys have a pre workout meal or drink? I usually don't cause I'm under the assumption that I will burn more fat if I don't have it..... I have plenty of energy for my workouts, so I never considered having the pre workout drink..... However, I notice that I'm seeing TONS of people talking about a pre workout meal..... So, I thought I'd ask about it and see what you guys do...... Thanks..

2-3 hours before I workout I have a meal with good amounts of protien and moderate complex carbs...30min -1hour before I have 23G protien and a banana...

And the carbs from the bannana are supposed to give you extra energy? If you didn't have it, wouldn't you just burn more stored calories?

Well it accomplishes a few things, first it increases insulin sensitivity and it will make you much stronger in the gym by raising blood glucose levels, also it the protien/carb combo will provide amino's for growth. If you didnt have the meal at all..then yes you would burn more stored calories....depends on what your trying to accomplish...but honestly cutting or bulking I have a pre-workout shake..

Same here I have to have at least a shake before the gym or I don't feel as great. I usually eat an hour and a half to three hours befor the gym and have a shake an hour before too.....

I can't believe without eating before the gym you don't feel any hunger or emptyness.cause I do...

Hmmmm..... Well I'm pretty Endo and I'm almost always trying to get lean..... I have a post workout shake with carbs and protein, but never did the pre workout shake..... Maybe I'll give it a shot, and just keep the cals low..... Thanks for the input...

I'll have a protein shake along w/ 1 cup of dry cheerios approx. 45 min. before working out.

Good read here...

Ok, what I'm still not grasping is why I would want to have carbs in my blood stream from food, and not from stored energy sources when working out (talking about lifting weights not cardio here) if I'm dieting down...... If I consume 200cals of carbs pre workout, that would be 200cals of less stored energy (fat and/or carbs) I won't burn during my workout..... If I burn stored glycogen during lifting, I just replace it post workout with a glycemic/protein fortified shake..... So, it sounds to me that skipping the pre workout meal would be better for someone who is trying to diet down..... Am I wrong in some way? Am I over looking something? Still trying to figure this out.....

Muscle Milk. I will try to get complex carbs in around a hour before workout. Then will have my muscle milk after. Then some All Natty PB before bed. Keeps me satisfied and its good.
