Potential BCS Nightmare

Steroid_Virgin

New member
Here's the potential.

Miami or VaTech go undefeated
Oklahoma wins out
Notre Dame wins out
Georgia wins out
Ohio State wins out

That would be 5 undefeated teams in strong conferences this year. I hope that this happens so that 3 strong teams have legitimate cases to play for NC so we can finally have a playoff even if its 4 or 8 teams.

Want to really fuck it up add 2 more undefeated NC State and Bowling Green to those other 5..

Playoffs are coming.

I think 6 teams will go undefeated. At the beginning of the season i though ND was a joke and continuously bet against them but lately they have been suprising me.

I agree....playoffs is the way to go. The BCS is money driven and corrupt...

I disagree with VT @ #6...they need to be ranked 2nd or 3rd...

Georgia should be ranked above ND...they have a 5-0 conference record and their coference is tough!! Teams like Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee...etc..

Oklahoma deserves the #1...Miami does not belong in the #2 spot.

Are you kidding me? The true National Championship game will be played on December 7th, Miami versus Va Tech. Who cares about these other teams? Mark my words, whoever wins that game will win the National Championship. Too bad Va Tech isn't higher on BCS ranking.

Bowling Green winning out doesnt have alot of sway in the BCS rankings.....but i agree with NC state, they look strong.

College football for the most part is a complete and total clusterfuck. There are so many organizations in the past that have prevetned #1 from playing #2 for the national title. These polls are also a bunch of bullshit. If a school has a bit of integrity, and choses not to kiss the asses of these sports writers, they are doomed to low rankings forever.

Make a playoff, and make a ranking system that is based on difficulty of schedule, not how many points you can score in a game.

Personally - I think Georgia is the third best team in the standings at the moment.....behind Miami and Va. Tech.....Oklahoma played well agains Texas......but giving up 30+ points to Alabama????

I forsee a Ga Va. Tech matchup........

GA will win out I think.
Miami will have a very close win that will hurt them.
Notre dame stumbles to a very underrated team
Ohio state loses as well

BC is a dangerous team for Notre Dame. The last time ND defeated FSU, they lost to BC the next week.

The BCS relies on strength of schedule, which is why VT is ranked lower. Their only 2 quality wins were against A&M and LSU, who just got trounced by Auburn. VT better mind their P's and Q's and not look ahead to Miami. Pitt and Virginia aren't going to lay down for them.

Bowling Green is irrelevant because they are not a BCS team and are not eligible for a BCS bowl.

I think Georgia will lose at least one of their last 5 games and I think Ohio State will run the table.

Miami will be one of the teams playing either Oklahoma, Ohio State or Notre Dame.

Colorado is red hot and will give Oklahoma some problems this week.

A playoff system is coming, I see it happening within the next five years.

Miami is the best team. bar none. If they play up to capability, they will be back to back champs. Their only problem is that their incredibly talented d line isn't stopping the run well, which isn't the worst problem with the talent they have. They'll be there.

Oklahoma is the second best team in my opinion. They play great in big games, and the only team I can see them losing against is perhaps Colorado this weekend, and they will probably blow them out. They are really coming around.

ND is good, much better then i thought, but still, they aren't Miami Oklahoma good. Yeah they beat FSU by a bigger margin then Miami, but everything went in their favor, and everything went against Miami. ND might have trouble with a highly powered passing offense (USC) where they end up in a shootout. Perhaps even BC if they have success throwing the ball might be a tough game.

Georgia is a good team. I still don't see them beating Florida, for whatever reason. I think the 2 qb system is going to bite Richt in the ass. Receivers are falling by the wayside and all the defenses aren't going to be Kentucky. Especially in the SEC title game.

Ohio State sucks. End of story.

Va tech is probably the 5th best team in my opinion. They have played a decent schedule and won some good games, but at the same time, they are two on dimensional, and can be shut down, even though they do perhaps have the two best rb's on the same team. You have to be able to pass at least some in college football.

What it boils down to is Miami vs. OU in the title game. And what a great great game that will be. I just hope the canes can pull it out.

Maybe so, but they have a better than average defense, a QB who doesn't turn the ball over and knows how to win and they play no one the rest of the season, with the exception of Michigan in their last game. This is one of the weakest Michigan teams in a while, so I think OSU will beat them.

I agree that Miami is the best team, so if Georgia loses a game, ND loses to BC or USC and Oklahoma loses to Colorado or in the Big 12 title game, you end up with Miami vs. Ohio St.

i love the bcs. i'm probably a minority of one, but i think it adds intrigue and interest to many of the regular season games. i also think that it will encourage teams to schedule tougher non-conference opponents.

i still think we'll see a lot of these teams fall by the wayside. some of these undefeated teams are just NOT that good. it sucks that ohio st. plays nobody (big ten sucks) 'cuz they may remain unscathed.

this coming weekend will be interesting.

I think Miami is the strongest team in the bunch, followed by Oklahoma.

I think Georgia is a stronger team than Ohio State, but at the same time, I think Ohio State would beat Georgia head-to-head. And, no I'm not contradicting myself.

But this is interesting. I predict we will have four undefeated teams with strong schedules when the regular season is over, and that ain't gonna be pretty.

O Wodin, tell me what else is in your crystal ball? Will I become a billionaire within five years?

You a billionaire..no

But with the Big East commish and the SEC commish both making rumblings for wanting a playoff system it will happen, but its going to take a few years to align all the powers that be into a scenario that works.

I see it like this.

You have lets say 8 - 12 top teams and they go into the playoff for the national title then you have all the also rans go to various bowl games.

I just take that from the fact that Ohio State has squeeked by a lot of subpar teams during the season. The Penn state game was a big win though, i'll give them that. They totally shut down a good offense. On the other hand, scoring 13 points a game isn't going to cut it with anyone in the top 10.

No doubt they'd get scorched if they played Miami or Oklahoma, but I think they have a good chance for getting to the game.

all it takes is for big time schools to hear how much more money they will make with that extra game...

let the bowls play out as always but instead of designating one bowl as the national championship game have it this way:

top 4 teams (if we push for more it becomes too much) play in a bowl game.. say, 1vs4 in the fiesta and 2vs3 in the rose (switch it between the big 3 each year)... and then the following week you have a national championship bowl... uh, presented by "arm and hammer" or some other sponsor $$$...

it gives just one extra game and keeps the bowls worth something.. it also uses the BCS system to set up the top 4 teams.

1 game, a few million bucks??? not bad.

miami and tech WILL NOT be a good game.

1. Tech is over rated almost lost twice to BAD teams
2. Miami amy win the game but is also over rated. If you have a running game ( Ohio State, Georgia,) YOU CAN BEAT Miami>
3. Notre Dame will lose to BC or USC
4. Oklohoma and I hate to say this is the BEST team. I've seen most of there games.

Potential Big Game

Notre Dame/ Ok
Georgia/Notre Dame
Ohio State/ Ok

You are insane..

VT has the most prolific running game in college football...
Miami almost lost to FSU

NC State does not belong in the BCS rankings...

ND's defense has locked down everyone. These guys cannot be discounted from the national championship picture. They held FSU to 10 for the part of the game that mattered. The points at the end of the game were meaningless.

Miami is the most talented team. Doesn't mean they can win out. They need to stop the run ASAP andf get sharper on special teams. if these guys play to their ability they will win the championship. Big if.

This year should be the year that the BCS freezes someone out, and hopefully the last year we have to deal with it.

btw - Ga's two back platoon system had netted over 800 yards....with one player missing one game and the backup mising two games....in a single rushe, that would be good enough for 10th in the ncaa

of course, they're only 78th in div IA in rushing.

we'll see how they fare this week...i'm still not a believer.

LOL

We'll see........

people said that when they played Tenessee and Alabama and South Carolina as well.....defense will carry them

I've watched georgia. 78th in rushing isn't a great rushing team. Doesn't mean they are awful, just not that great either. Passing is their strong suit.

Remember one thing.

Miami vs BC in rushing yards = bit over 100 yards.

Va Tech vs BC in rushing yards = whooping 334 yards!

Can I get a hell yeah?!

VT 20 Temple 10
Miami 44 Temple 21

That means Miami is 13 points better than VT, right?

Oregon St beat Temple by 41 pts.

Cincinnati beat them by 12.

Let me put this in another way.

Miami played BC on their home turf.

Va Tech played at BC Stadium. Hmmm....you make the call.

Plus, Va Tech played at Texas A&M's house, known as one of the loudiest and wildest crowds in the country. They still won.

Can I get another HELL YEAH ?!?!

comparisons like that are shit - lol

Alabama ALMOST beat Ok

Ohio State nearly lost 3 games......

lol

Word to the Corndog.

Use all the comparisons you tech fans want, come december, your little hokie will be sucking on the ibis dong of justice. You aren't coming into the Orange Bowl and winning. It won't even be that close. Sorry.

As a Fan - I wanna see Ok and Va Tech play...I also wanna see Ga play Miami

VA tech aint shit. they have had close games against sub par teams. they will get whipped by Miami end of story. georgia looked awesome against Kentucky and can be peaking at the right moment. they ran and they apssed very well. Fuck the 78th in the nation of offense. They can run and they can play and I hate the team. Look at strength of schedule and that goes to ND. Look at OK they still have colorado left and ok state whom last year beat them. they whipped iowa state and they whipped texas. ohio state has beaten penn state, wisconsin,. Miami has almost lost as well so the bottom line is that every team in the top 5 has had close games. Look for OK and Notre Dame if they punch out. Look for Ohio State and Maimi if they punch out and ND or OK lose a game. Vt is behind everyone else in the polls so if they beat Miami and ND and OK punch out thats it.

sure I will bet ya that VA Tech will lose to Miami? Is that the bet? If so how about a jug of your fav protein if your right or mine if I am right? 4 # jar?? let me know.

peace

Uhhhhh...I was thinking more like cash wired to paypal account but I'd settle for that. A jug? You mean as in 5lb jug, none of that pansy 1lb jug, right?

Then that's settled. Man, a freebie! :p

pay pal suck. you want cash? how much cash ya want? on the protein i was thinking 4# jar like I said but 5 is fine. i just want to make sure you pay up when they lose and YOU HAVE MY WORD I will. Let me know either way.

Ahhhh.....the smell of the arrogance....

That is what is going to bring Miami down. Va Tech will fully exploit their weaknesses and knock them off from their high horse.

Suggs will demolish Miami's nonexistant D-line.

Suggs.horiz.00.UM.jpg

Yeah, it's on. We PMed each other the details about the bet.

Now we all can do is wait for the game to come. What's the matter, Nature Boy? Still in debt from betting on redskins? LOL

I am still not totally conviced that Miami or VTech will win the National Championship....the winner will of course be in the drivers seat...but.......just gotta feeling about this......I think, in all seriousness that The winner of the game will play Ok or Georgia

I bet against the redskins with steriod virgin.

I'm rooting for tech, but I'd only bet on the point spread.

I'm hoping each team stays undefeated until that game, because I have 10 tickets to see the hokies play the canes.

Miami will not be there even if they win if ND and OK punch out. We do have a bet and if I lose my word is my honor and I will date KHMER but only 1 date ( it was his idea). I HATE Miami BUT still think they will win even though they have problems with the run. Bottom line is great teams play well in BIG situations and pressure destroys teams who have NOT been great.

Let the taunting begin. MIAMI, MIAMI, MIAMI I can't lose and go on a date I am in a relationship. (lol)

Miami by 5.

Were are you going to watch the game?

If I'm in DC, probably the EPSN bar in NW DC.

If my mom and sister drag me to San Fran, I have no clue.

SV, Va is a good team. No doubt about it. But unless Miami's starting offense gets struck by lightning they won't stand much of a chance.

Miami's offense can be matched up with most of the Pro teams no problem.

Fonz

damn the whole bcs is going to be shaken up. oh my gosh what a major problem!! i,m not going to be able to have a orgasm tonight!!

looks like georgia, notre dame and nc state turned out to be the pretenders (most) everyone (corn?) thought they were....

I up my bet to $200 for Miami.

I say Miami by 5 over Oklahoma.

Anybody game?

Fonz

lotta' football to be played between now and the fiesta bowl, fonz.

if recent bcs history has taught us anything, it's that the national championship game picture can change drastically in november/december....

you still planning on being an aTm aggie? if you have any football talent it shouldn't be too hard to find a spot on THAT squad....(my heart weeps for them....)

LOL

Miami just amazes me every time they play.

Their offense is composed of buzzing insects who terrorize
the opposing team...LOL

Yep. The Texas Teams are really sucking this year. Tech and A&M
are BAD.

Oh well, ND got roasted yesterday(I almost fell of my chair when I saw the score on ESPN)

I only see Oklahoma as a good threat to Miami.

Thats why the by 5.

Any other team? Miami by 10.

Checked out a couple of VA's games on tape.......their D
will get eaten for breakfast by Miami.

If I play a sport it'll be soccer. 190lbs is not big enough
for football. I'm a better soccer player anyways.

ND though......just AWFUL!

umm ok. I just think Ohio State still loses. Michigan looked much better on Saturday. Their best output of the year.

If they don't. They go to the Rose Bowl. Sorry.

I just got out of the hospital again and won't brag but why is it the gay guy gets it right? you should all be ashamed. (lol) Miami

I am happy with the Sooners.

Things are going really well down here in Norman, Oklahoma.

We are ranked:

#1 - Football
#3 - Basketball
#3 - Wrestling

The Oklahoma Sooners can defeat any team in the nation and win the National Championship. There are a lot of good teams, but a good coaching staff is essential in winning football games.

Next week, we take on Texas A&M

I fear Oklahoma State, they are scrappers. I think this year the Sooners will defeat Okie State. I don't think it will be a high scoring game. We will have to wait and see.

Go Sooners!!

Purdue will give Ohio State a big game ( don't forget I want them in so bad). OK is the ebst team out there and should punch out. As I have stated on deaf ears Tech was over rated and Miami will step it up when they play. Won't even be a game sorry to say.
