Post workout carbs.

I'm placing this here and in the diet section. Hoping to get a lil more response since this confuses me.


Here's my deal. I get up around noon go to th gym around 1 ish. I don't eat before hand but i take my ECA. Now I lift then do cardio. Is it better for me to wait til after my cardio before i get my simple carbs or should i do it before I hop on the treadmill?

Depends on what your goals are... if you're trying to lose fat, most definitely wait till after (maybe up to an hour after) your cardio to eat/drink any carbs. If you're not too concerned with fat loss, taking in the carbs (with some protein right?) right after lifting would serve better for muscle building... but, you wouldn't burn too much (if any) fat during the cardio session b/c your blood glucose will be elevated from the carb drink, and all that energy required for the treadmill will come from that blood glucose... not from your fat stores. Hope this helps.
 
have half banana (or small apple) with your ECA-- fructose.. liver glycogenation... eca should be taken about 45min prior to exercise

have carbs post workout(after the treadmill)
 
thanks guys, i was thinking this way too but wasn't sure. I'll ty the half banana thing as well. At this point i could use the extra calories as i am rotating carbs to try and burn bf. I started logging my foods this week and it is time to kick into high gear. I have had had only about 1000 caloried for the past 2 days and that is a bd thing when you are 220lbs and don't want to go catabolic. I'm not taking anything right now. I've also never done any cycles at all... still trying to build a base before i am ready to even attempt to go to the next level.
