Possible Oil Abscess?

PainforGain

New member
Its been a week since I took an injection in my right delt. Its been sore and I think its an oil abcess. I've been takin the injections in my left delt and I have no problem, not even soreness. If its an oil abcess, what do I say to the doctor? Should I tell him its roids, and if I do will he call the cops or anything?

as stated...no he wont...and technically, the client patient privilage thing applies to your doctor as i would with you attorney....

My other question is this, I never really gone to the doctors before on my own, I am still on my parents health insurance, will some type of bill show up to them stating what was done? I rarely go to the doctor, so i dont know what to tell them why i want to go to the doctor all of a sudden. No im not a teenager, I am 21, but since im in school i couldnt afford to pay my own health insurance. Any ideas?

I'd still go to the doc-- and talk to him first about the billing issue/ and personal information before Doc does anything to you.

oh, another thing-- he can't disclose any information to the local authorities-- I'm sure alot of docs deal with druggies! but, one thing will be written is in your medical profile-- the insurance companies can access to that information.

I posted a question on here a while ago asking about what to tell a doc if the need should arise. Several guys suggested that I don't tell the doc a thing because if it gets into your med record that you used roids, they'll blame future problems on that and possibly not cover it. In fact, when I look over my insurance policy, they only speak about "accidents" and "illness" being covered and I'm pretty sure you injecting yourself isn't either. Just something to think about. Keep us posted, I'd like to know what you decided and how it goes.

It feels like this is goin away. I stopped all injections to that area. Its still a little sore to the touch, but definitely less painful. Still slightly red around the area, and warm to the touch, but the rough area feels like it has gotten smaller. Any ideas? Maybe I should wait a while and see what happens.

Bro, if it is still red and soar to the touch, I would try to get some type of anti-biotics. This is due to the fact that if it is an infection, and it seems to be, since you posted this days ago and the redness is still previlant. An abcess may go down in size, but you still ahve to deal with the lining of the tissue this encapsulates the abcess. Your best bet is to go see a doc, and treat it properly. He will not say anything to your folks..he can't due to the patient privacy laws as I have stated on other boards to you about this same post;)

I put ice on the injection site last night for half hour, and seems to of done me good. The rough spot has gone down dramatically, and as for the red spot, it is down as well. I may of seen why it was red in the first place. What happened was I hit a vein, so i pulled out and did it again. When i put a bandage on, i put it on the wrong spot and the sticky part was actually over the spot of injection from the second time. no blood came out of that one, which is why i couldnt see where to put the bandage, the only place i went for was were the first spot was when i hit the vein. i still have a red spot where the bandage was peeled off from, which runs right across the injection spot. Could this of just irritated it?

Should I wait and see if it improves more? I mean Im not totally sure about infection. The needles are clean, I even wash the area with a soap that my mother gets from the operating room she works at, its strong enough to kill HIV, then after that, i still rub it down with alcohol, before and after the shot. I never had a problem with this in my left shoulder. Maybe because I am right handed, and its much easier to keep things steady and not have the needle move around soo much.
