Popes should be freakin Italian

The guy doesn't look very sympathetic like John Paul II did...and he's also a traditionalist in every sense of the word.

yea, i was thinking the same...looks like a mean old man. like this old guy across the street who would chase us with his cane when we tried to get our baseball out of his yard.

LOL, i'm italian as well and wanted to see an Italian Pope but the guy's 78 so we won't need to wait that long for a successor.

people assume all of italy is very catholic being that the vatican is there..truth is they are not very religious at all

Benedict XVI is universally regarded as perhaps the fdoremost theologian of the 20th century. He was considered a liberal when Vatican II was adopted.

There isnt a debate. The Catholic faith is what it is, and it has never changed. The only debate is among leftist kooks, most of whom arent even Catholic, who imagine they are entitled to scrap the faith and just make up a new religion.

Of course they're free to do so, go ahead and start your own Church. Good luck with converts
 
we just gotta wait and see, power does funny things to people. hopefully, if he was as close to JP II as they've said, he'll rise to his standard.
