Pool Tables.

do any of you have one? I'm looking at quality/prices of buying one for a friend of mine. Most decent ones go for between $1,000 and $2,000 while really good ones go up to $7,000. If anyone has bought one or has advice, let me know.

I was a serious pool player in another life, til BB. I played everyday for 7 years its serious out there like BBing. If you want to causally play for fun spend 2k and get an 8 foot table and you'll be fine. If you are serious go out and buy a used Brunswick Gold Crown 1 or 2, 9 foot table, it will look like shit but play great. The new Gold Crown 4 costs 7k, looks better but will play the same as the old ones if the right mechanic sets it up.

Dont go to a billiard store for advice, they never ever know shit about seriuos pool, Go to the local poolhall in the ghetto they will point you in the right direction. When you go to the poolhall ask if "is this where the players are at?" If they dont know what your talking about your in the wrong place, try again. If they say yes or why then ask who does tip work. The guys who do tips on cues know everybody there awalys friendly and will hook you up.
