Pool Pump question help quick

I have a hayward pool pump and i cannot get my skimmer to suck water or the vacume thingy. air bubbles sometimes some out of the holes in the pool the water mover things. not too familiar with the whole pump system any ideas or what can i check? thanks guys and gals

When was the last time the filter was cleaned?Also,check to make sure the hair-lint pot is free of junk.

cleaned filter on saturday, the basket in the skimmer and the pump are both empty, the problem is i cuess the pump won't suck water out of the pool on either vacume or skimmer any more ideas? please help

Okay,take the little basket that's in front of your motor out.Obviously,make sure the motor is turned off here.Reach into that area with a flat screwdriver toward the direction of your motor.There is something that is called an impellar blade there.Use the screwdriver to poke around that blade,and pull backwards with it,kind of like as if you were using a toothpick to dislodge something from your teeth.This blade sometimes gets clogged up with leaves and shit,and the pump will not draw water properly if it's obstructed.

bingo now it is running thanks, stupid palm strings clogged it up i think i should get the filter for the basket
