Poland to Commit Troops in War With Iraq

WARSAW, Poland -- Poland would send up to 200 soldiers to take part in a U.S.-led war with Iraq, President Aleksander Kwasniewski announced Monday.

"We are ready to use a Polish contingent in the international coalition to contribute to making Iraq comply with the U.N. resolutions," Kwasniewski said.

"It's a difficult decision but necessary."

The decision allows a contingent of several hundred Polish troops to deploy to the Gulf region from March 19 until Sept. 15.

Poland backs Washington's tough line on Iraq and was among eight European countries that signed a letter pledging solidarity with the United States in its efforts to disarm Saddam Hussein.

I'm thinking those 200 Polish soldiers are going to end up being the difference in this war. You watch...by the time this war is over, all that's going to be left of the U.S. and Iraqi troops is 200 Polish guys running around Baghdad peeing directly into the wind and stabbing dead Iraqi's with their gun barrels before sticking their flag ontop of a nearby port-a-potty.

If I was an Iraqi solider I would surrender immediately! Those polish soldiers you are describing sound fucking scary! The "Polish Delta Force" if you will!

WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland admitted on Monday that its elite GROM commando unit had taken part in the U.S.-led attack on Iraq after the soldiers posed for a Reuters news photographer.

The Defense Ministry had denied that GROM (Thunder) special forces were involved in combat, but on Monday it confirmed their participation after dailies splashed photographs of the soldiers in the Iraqi port of Umm Qasr, where U.S.-led troops are battling pockets of Iraqi resistance.......The Reuters photographs showed masked GROM soldiers taking prisoners, scrawling graffiti on a portrait of Saddam and posing with U.S. Navy Seals holding up a U.S. flag.
