Policosanol question

I've been looking into policosanol (sp?) a little bit and I see that it is made from sugar cane. They say sugar cane contains the main ingredients. My question, for those who may be experts, is: Would a person get the same benifits from just eating pure sugar cane? Or, is policosanol chemically altered to produce the results that it does?

I can get granulated, evaporated sugar cane juice at my local health food store. I use it as a sugar substitute (well, it is sugar, only not so processed).

No, one would not.

The active ingredient is octacosanol. Eating pure sugar cane will only help you get fat. No chemical alteration that i know of, just a selective extraction.

Just buy policosanol, it's only about $10 for a 1-2mo supply
