POLICE are SCUM!

My God, that was the worst attempt at demonizing drugs. Tell me what was here first, hallucinogens or cars? Please tell me how drugs will be removed from society? This is the pathetic logic that drives the war on drugs. Lets not penalize people for criminal activities, i.e. violent crimes, theft, etc., lets make up new crimes that we can penalize that are associated with some crimes. If you cannot see the expansion of government power and police forces that have occured since the inception of this War on Drugs, then I don't know what will. You are not making anybody safer by putting away 21 year old hippies, for a bag of weed, but you are increasing the demand for prisons, police, judges, lawyers, laws, etc.

If you can't understand that the legalization of drugs will enormously remove the incentive for true crimes due to the tremendous markup on cheap items, then you are living in dreamland. This would remove the mob, crack pushers, the Columbian cartels, etc.

After legalization, you then penalize only for real crimes. If you kill someone, you go to jail, whether on drugs or not. If you steal from someone, you go to jail, whether on drugs or not. The War on Drugs has not made anyone safer from crime, but it has made a huge industry associated with it.

You have grasped for straws, because in your earlier post you stated that car registration was to insure vehicles, which is ridiculous, since registration laws were devised long before insurance laws. So what was the rationale prior to mandatory insurance laws? Is gun registration for the purpose of instituting gun insurance?

Also, here in Georgia, there is no vehicle inspection, only emissions inspections. So Georgia must not care for the people on the roads, only the environment.

I'm not demonizing drugs in the least part. If you haven't noticed I said I use them myself. I'm just trying to show how the Government would be considered negligent if they didn't at least attempt to cut down on the occurences of drug related crime by removing some of it from the street. I'm not dumb enough to believe that drugs will ever go away, nor do I wish they would go away either. I'm neither pro or anti drug. I only have an understanding as to why the Gov would try to combat rampant drug use(reasons other than monetary). We already penalize for crimes you have stated, so the next logical step would be to try to reduce the cause of some of these crimes, which in some cases is drugs.

Gun registration is required so that any nutball can access a gun. It also aids in tracing murder weapons to their owners. And I already know that guns are obtainable on the black market, but I assume that you agree that we shouldn't make it any easier on a criminal to obtain a gun. History is just that. Who the fuck cares which came first. The point is car registration is a good thing. It deters those from driving without insurance.

Sure in some states there are no inspection regulations. But you can be damn sure that if an officer of the law notices a defect in your car that you will be alerted to the problem. I actually feel alot better and don't mind paying to know that my car is in good running condition. I likewise like to know that the car next to me on the highway is in good running condition also...

HH, most are just hypocrites.

They bitch about how cops are so aweful and this and that, and then some nut case comes along and kills their son/daughter.

I´ve read this argument a few times here. A classic case of people infinitely overestimating the probability of a low likelihood (but highly salient) event ocurrin to them. You are many many more times likely to deal with a cop over something relatively petty.

As for those of you who aspire to be cops- learn something from this discussion; it pretty much reflects the way most, if not all of us generally law-abiding folk feel.

Two things:

In Spain, people don´t like cops bacause of recent political history here.

BUT, because of that they have little power. SO, relations with police are much less hostile. I believe this is because cops are not charged with the incessant enforcement of what the populace at large considers non issues.(petty drug possession, usage, incessant traffic stops) Basically controlling the day to day personal behaviour decisions.

Now prove it.

The drug debate often gets bogged down like this in philosophy and vaguery. Bottom line, look at drug laws and the way they are enforced. WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS?

Little power ? Wake up bro. Ever heard about the Guardia Civil ? They rule in their respective region as much as God would...

What do you mean? That is, how do they have so much more power compared to US police?

US Police are under the authority (for most) of the municipality. Provincial police under States' authority and so on..... Guardia Civil has no one over except the "King"..... and the Central gov. Even with someone over a Captain can always decide to over-rule a governor's decision (exactly what happened few years ago during an inmates riot in Valencia)....

OK. Is that very different from federal US agents?

US federal agents could be compared to La Policia Nacional since both are under the authority of their respective Justice Department. secretary/minister of Justice is their boss.

I have the perfect place for everyone in favor of slack police forces and loosened drug laws(or most laws in general for that fact). It's called Thailand. Have a safe trip... :FRlol:

Drug laws....hmmmm....Amsterdam? England? Most of Europe? They seem to be doing alright in the violent crimes category. :)

What about pleasure? Is that a bad thing? Hell, how about a squeaky clean house? LOL. :elephant:

Hey I'm all for pleasure. By productive I mean not detrimental to everyday life. Sure I agree that using rec drugs on the weekends isn't harmful in the grand scheme of things. But if you chose to get wasted every day your life in turn wouldn't be very productive you'd have to agree...

Save the drama for your mama.

There is a discernible difference between big city police and smaller town cops, and then there is a whole different segment called "traffic enforcement".

Traffic cops are the scum of the earth and I would like to drown them one by one in front of their families.

Police forces should be cut 75%.

Dont forget ATF & DEA agents... Pieces of shit...

1) It's highly improbably that a gay man would hate another gay man because of the fact he's gay.

2) Rape, murder, theft, driving fatalities, assault. You can't deny that drugs add to it's share of these crimes.

3) I guess I can't actually prove anything, and neither can you. But do me a favor and go into a high drug trafficking neighborhood and decide for yourself. If you're so sure that drugs don't cause crime you won't have any worries at all. Why not bring some extra cash while you're at it.

Am I trying to change any laws or start a movement? Hell no. I use them myself sometimes. The government isn't mainly concerned with the occasional pot smoker I believe. But I'm not naive enough to believe that drugs don't have any harmful effects. Whether it be on society or yourself. And I understand why there are people who's job it is to combat drug users...

Again, what do you mean by drugs cause crime? Be specific.

I never said they don´t have harmful effects(alcohol and tobacco are drugs) Ask yourself this, why with those two drugs does "combatting" mean anti smoking commercials and warnings on packs and informational approaches and with other drugs "war" is declared?
