my friend seems to think that anyone can become anything, no matter who the person. anyone can be a doctor, rocket scientist, just may take them more time, do you guys think that there are no limitations to the human? pissed me off, he was so conviced that everyone in the world can achieve anything they put there mind to, he donsn't belive that some people can do some things, and some people just can not, no matter how hard they study or work at it, some people just can get things.....he is 5'10, i told him that he may never be able to dunk a basketball ever ( he's like 8 inches shy of dunking) and it pissed him off so bad, he said he promises he will be albe to dunk before he dies, but that's not even the same kind of thing, that is the body not the brain...what the fuck do you guys think????

Well, I think anyone can become anything.
But the older you get the less likely people are to change.

Also the less capable they are to change, there is a point in life when you simply can't learn as effectively as you once did.

A friend of mine is a neurologist. He said he doubts it's any harder than any other specialty of medicine.

I used to work for the NRO, so I know a few "rocket scientists" too. And they're not all that bright.

People have this sterotype that a college degree in anything advanced means the person is smart. It simply means they had the discipline and desire.

I think smarts is the least weighed factor in people not becoming what they want.

The most salient factor in failure is by far loss of discupline and/or desire.

I think the number of peole who have an upper limit on what they can accomplish is far lower than the opposite.

Its just a very common excuse.

I laugh when I hear people say they dropped out of medical school because it was too hard. It's a load of BS, they just didn't want it bad enough.

To a certain extent I would actually agree with your friend.Except of course where someone has an obvious physical or mental disability.

My own personal philosophy is that the only limitations a man has are those which he places upon himself,I have no idea who first made that particular statement but I agree with it 100%.It is one of my deepest beliefs,any time things ever start to really look bad in my life I stop and think of this.I suppose what it really is all about for me is believing in that we all have the power to change our own destiny and to do or to be whatever we want in life no matter how far fetched it is.

If you really want something bad enough you can have it,the question I guess is how much are you willing to sacrifice to make it happen?
