Plateaued After 2 Weeks!!!

I'm only a little into Week 3 and my body is not being very stubborn about giving up any more poundage!!!! :(

I read this diet today, The Emergency Diet from Muscle and Fitness Hers. I think I'm gonna try it. I'm basically already doing everything in it except for doing moderate intensity cardio for 45-60mins. twice a day. Yes, That's right, TWICE a day in addition to regular weight training. UGGG. It sounds like PURE TORTURE. But you're only supposed to do this until you've reached your goal weight/fat loss.

I know you all say less cardio, more training, but, I still can't see my muscles which means I've got to shed this stubborn fat first and if that mean losing a little muscle, I am fine with that because I know I can build it back up very easily. I actually think it might be the only way to get rid of the excess fat!!! It would make sense because the only time I've ever been 'lean' was in High School when I used to play sports, which meant a good 2 hours of cardio 5 days a weeks.

I don't know...I'm just frustrated. Any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what your diet looks like, but when i platuea i up my carbs a lot for a week or so, if you aren't getting enough carbs, your body will hit starvation mode and cling to anything it's got...i have noticed when i up my carb intake for a limited time, the fat starts to melt off again bc my body realizes it can let go of some of the fat b/c its not starving. Different things work for different people, but give it a shot....i might work. Plus if you are working out that hard twice a day, your body is gonna need more calories, just make sure the carbs are good carbs.

Ahhhh...thanks for your replies. I guess I am just freaking out because I feel like I should be seeing a bigger change than I am. But *slap myself* it's only been 2 1/2 weeks. I do feel better over all mentally and physically, AND my jeans fit better.

Spatts, that is really good to know....My body really likes this layer of fat. It wants me to stay soft and ready for child-bearing or something. :lmao: I usually get frustrated and go back to my old ways at this point, so it will be interesting to see what happens if I actually hop over this little obstacle and finish the course to the end.

Audacious, I'm gonna try that. How long do you do the limited carbing up for? A few days or a week at a time? That is also the same suggestion that was made in the Muscle and Fitness Hers diet. The idea is to keep your metabolism guessing right? So that it does not start to slack off from being used to metabolizing the same foods over and over. I guess I will carb up more on my heavy cardio days. A nice low-fat homemade pizza sure sounds good about now!!! :D

I usually do low carbs until i notice a platau, then i will up my carbs for maybe a week or two, but then go back to low carbs until i platau again...just do what keeps showing you results. Try new things at each platau...you're right, keep the body guessing. When i carb up i don't go overboard, but will throw in a piece or two of whole grain flax seed bread, some carnation and bananas in the morning and still sort of lay off in the evening. It takes a while to see results, i didn't notice any siginficant changes until at least a month into it. Slow weight loss is the key to keeping it off

I know you make a lot of sense. I'm just so afraid that I'm gonna screw up while I'm experimenting and actually end up gaining weight.....:( I've mistreated my body for so long, I don't want to mess up this time.

Yes...slow...progress...I'm so impatient! I just want to be able to see my muscles without having to flex!!!!! Arrg...and the weekend is coming up and there's gonna be invitations to go out to eat and drink....that is the WORST part. I wish I could go live in the woods by myself while I dieted. ;)

Hey i know what you mean. I've been training for 6 months and am just starting to see muscle in my arms w/out flexing...now my legs that a whole nother story..they got too big too fast. Anyway, you need to experiment to know what works...if you start to notice your clothes are a little tigher, try somethin new, and ditch the scale, go on how your clothes fit. I went from a size 13-14 to a size 7-8 these past 6 months, but only lost 10lbs if that...that's b/c muscle weighs more, so just be patient and don't weigh yourself. I gaurantee you you'll find somethin that works...trust me, if i could do it...anyone could do it.

POLAR

What are your stats? What are your goals? Seems like you aren't giving yourself enough time to see results. It's only been a few weeks and already you can tell you aren't getting results?

How long have you been training for?

Is it possible if you continue to do what you are doing that eventually you will see what you are working towards?

What?? 10 lbs and you dropped 3/4 dress sizes? That is pretty comforting to hear. I'm a naturally muscular girl especially the legs part too, with some not so lovely layer fat covering it all up. I don't really care about numbers too much, just as long as I can see muscles!!! That's all I care about. :)
