Planned layoffs?

Does anyone here take layoffs for recovery? I've been having joint aches, rotator cuff problems, knee problems, wrists, elbows, basically everything is starting to ache. I'm thinking of taking this week off from physical activity. Since I already missed a workout yesterday because the gym was closed, I thought I might make this week a layoff. I'm just plain tired, maybe with some time off I can rebuild some enthusiasm. Going to the gym is starting to feel like going to work.
 
Taking some time off is a good thing. I do it at least once a year for a few weeks.
Keeps your enthusiasm high and prevents you from getting burnt out.
 
Have you been periodizing your workouts? You should change it up every 4 weeks or so. Give us a general idea of your workout schedule...have you been lifting heavy with few reps for a while?
 
Planned breaks are a good idea both physically and mentally. You still can stay active. Maybe take daily bike rides or walk instead.

I am currently taking 10 days off from the gym that started last Friday. It is hard for me to do. I keep imagining I am shrinking.
 
I will take anywhere from 1-2 weeks off a year depending on the year. Taking time off is a good thing, remember that.
 
layoffs are good....does that men I take 'em....I tried but I'm to fuckin' neurotic about this shit I can't get myself to do it....I even worked out at the Gold's Gym in the Bahamas when I went on vacation there.....I've got problems....
 
My common sense tells me I need rest. After a few years of lifting you can tell when you need a break. I just have no drive at the gym any more. However, I find it psychologically difficult to not go to the gym. I keep feeling guilty about it for some reason so I had to come to this board and post my confessional. I wonder if any Catholics have ever gone in to that little booth and said "Father, I didn't work out this week". LOL
