The best one I heard so far was:
Going in on a Sat afternoon and asking what to do. I have to give my dog some shots and the pinz the vet gave me I left at the cabin while on vacation. I don't want to drive all the way back there can you help me out?

Tell them your hobby is model building and you need it for the solvents when you glue plastics together. Also, if you live in the Toronto area, go to a Medical Mart and get what you need. I've done this tons of times, no questions asked. Box of 100 Syringes for about $25 and 100 pins for about $10.
