Are 23gauge x 1" big enough for a glute shot?

Depends on your body fat%, I've never gone any bigger then 23g 1 1/4" so unless your a fat ass you should be fine. (get it "fat ass" hahaha)

the gauge is the diameter of the needle, which is only relevant to the viscosity of the drug your injecting. the thicker the drug, the lower gauge needle. the length of the needle depends on the thickness of your fat over lying the muscle, as mentioned above.

I use a 25g x 1.5 with no issues at all.

I use 25ga x 1" pins for all shots. Glutes. Quads. Delts.

As far as length is concerned 1 to 1.5" is enough depending on fat percentage and musculature in the glutes, but the guage as someone else mentioned will depend upond the viscocity of the liquid. You can shoot a very viscous liquid through a 25 guage, but it will take a little while to do so.
