To preface, I take every imaginable sanitary precaution while pinning (I Clorox the countertop, wash my hands then use latex gloves, and wipe the stopper and injection site with alcohol solution, while keeping syringe and needle in their packaging, never touching anything that hasn't been sterilized). I am on the fourth week of this Test E cycle.
Well, on Sunday I made the mistake of pinning the same quad for the second time in four days, despite it still feeling tender from the previous injection (idiot move, I know - and it's a relatively virgin muscle too). By the next morning, my entire leg was stiff, and immobile. I walked with a limp until buying some Excedrin (aspirin/acetaminophen/caffeine) while lowered the inflammation considerably. By Tuesday, I was able to walk relatively fine and there was no pain but my quad was red, swollen, and hot to the touch.
Yesterday, I was even able to work my quads in the gym with no pain. But lo and behold, my quad is still a bit red, somewhat swollen, and still pretty hot. It's a bit sore when I left my knee to my chest (which I can do with no issue), and hurts when I apply pressure (although the pain is about a 2 or 3 on a scale of 1-10).
I suppose what I'm asking is ... is my quad infected? If so, should I wait it out or go see a doctor? It's getting better every day, and the redness has dulled considerably (it's not nearly as bright as it was) but I'm absolutely paranoid about necrosis. That's a horrifying thought. I have a full course of penicillin vk on me, but if it is infected, the bacteria may very well be penicillin resistant.
Please advise.
EDIT: So I just got off the phone with a friend who's in med school. He told me the decrease in swelling in addition to the irritation of the skin (itchiness and highly sensitive to scratching) is indicative of a skin irritation/rash, but if it does not continue to improve I need to see a doctor...and to not go anywhere near any antibiotics without a proper scrip. Fair enough.
