I know, who'd a thunk it????
From Today's News Journal:
The football strategists are exhausting the play-calling possibilities. The bookies are stretching the boundaries of betting options.
Dietitians are no exception in the frenzy to provide a different standard for naming the game's winner. And although one such formula has nothing to do with either the Eagles or the Patriots, its suggested outcome might lend it some credibility around here.
Jessica Malone, a registered dietician at L.A. Weight Loss in Horsham, Pa., and her colleague Dara Steiger compared typical Philadelphia fare with examples from New England. Three popular foods and two favored beers from each locale were tested for calories, fat and carbohydrates. In the end, Philadelphia was deemed healthier.
The Eagles, Malone and Steiger say, will win the Super Bowl by 307 calories.
New England clam chowder, a lobster roll, a slice of Boston cream pie, Sam Adams Boston Lager and Sam Adams Light faced off with a small cheesesteak, a soft pretzel, an Italian water ice, Yuengling Lager and Yuengling Light.
The cheesesteak had more calories (600) than any other item, but Philadelphia's totals were the best in each category.
Malone, 25, encourages activity on game day besides lifting food or drink to your mouth. But she has a suggestion that many will consider more feasible than rigorous exercise: "Cheering on the team," she says, "will help your metabolism. Anything that gets your heart rate up."
