There was a reason it was pulled from the market: fatal lactic acidosis in about 1 patient per 1000. You don't want to lapse into an acidosis-incuded coma while your legs are burning doing squats or sprinting.

metformin/glucophage is supposed to be the safer of the two if you were looking to use a biguanide agent. i had some laying around, and threw it out. didn't do much for me, and i heard bad things about it hindering gains if anything.
