I was contacted about a job opportunity and they want me to take two on-line personality tests (listed below).

Has anyone taken these before?

What should I expect?

Does anyone have the answers


1.) PDI (Entry Level Management Test Battery): The PDI consists of four sections and measures skills and abilities that are critical for successful performance. There are no time limits, but you should be able to complete all four sections within two hours. This test is scenario based as a store manager, however store experience is not needed to complete this test. You will want to answer as if you were the store manager.

2.) Watson Glaser Assessment: The Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal is an untimed inventory designed to measure different, though interdependent, aspects of critical thinking. This test takes approx. 45 minutes to complete.

I've only taken the MMPI (wasn't on line) The test was amusing to say the least. The questions ranged from helping animals, general quality of life and feces (or other body fluids/functions).

Sit back relax and try not to read too much into the questions. Good luck on the job.

I'd guess that Test 1 is probably an in-house or corporate test. It's probably all business & work-related shit. You should be able to sail through this one. I'd guess that Test #2 is probably a test of your morals, etc. Sample question: "If someone was broke and they needed vitamins, would it be ok for them to steal them?" Well, regardless if you think its right or wrong, say "No", b/c thats what the company wants to hear, just like AA said.

I worked for a big national dep. store chain and one of their tests was just like my theoretical question for test #2. The entire test was shit like that, moral questions.

And Kel, about the MMPI, its one of the most comprehensive tests of psychological status ever invented. What makes it such a great test is that they can tell if you are lying. When Jeffrey Dahmer took the test, they found out he was normal in most regards, didnt lie on the test, etc. But his anti-social reading was like off the charts. How long did it take you to do the MMPI?

The best advice I can giv is to get yourself into A VERY POSITIVE STATE OF MIND before you take it. Take your time, and remain very calm. I don't think you can manipulate the results and if you try to, they will know it because of conflicting answers. Don't worry about it, the results are meant to see if you are suited for a particular type of job.
