Thanks to Mercedes and Michelin, Kimi lost 41 points this year, and guess who got them? I think you know.

Thanks to Mercedes and Michelin he'll be 2nd at the end of the season

I'm now wondering if he's that much better than Montoya...

He's way better than Montoya and way faster than Alonso.

Faster than Alonso????

They don't have the same car so it's not possible to compare (even though I agree Kimi is probably the fastest driver, if not the best)
Too bad he's not really friendly

As for Montie, he was new to McLaren so the first few races don't count

Let's see the last races

Kimi has pwn3d Montoya basicly the whole season, just like he pwn3d Coulthard last season. Gaynardo is Flavio's boytoy like Schumi was when he drove Benetton, so he's automaticly the #1 driver in the team and Fisichella Renault's own poor Barichello/Irvine.

Montoya makes too many errors, he can't handle the pressure like Kimi.

I agree Pablo makes too many errors
So does Kimi

Next year I think Kimi will not have much competition
With the new V8, only the richest teams will be able to come up with a good (fast and reliable) package

So it will be McLaren, Ferrari then Toyota and Renault (and maybe BAR)

I am

But even Schumi makes mistakes

Alonso only screwed only once this year
Kimi 3 or 4 times
and I'm not talking of Mercedes

can't you wait till next year to see him win the races like Schumi did last year?

When did Kimi screw up? I can't remember a single time when he fucked up his race by crashing or making an big time driving error.

It will be Kimi against the Columbian drug lord next year and Kimi will win.

No big time mistakes but enough to cost him the victory

Just like this sunday

He had the car to qualify 1st and win w/o any difficulty
He screwed up his qualifying lap

So what, it was already too late. Alonso just had to finish 3rd to start the celebration.

In the 15 races this year, Raikkonen has been struck by either mechanical or driving errors in 8 of them, either in practice or during the race: Australia, Malaysia, San Marino, Europe, France, Britain, Germany and now Italy.

Every time Kimi wasn't able to finish a race because of a technical problems, Alonso won those races.

So yes, thanks to Mercedes and Michelin, Kimi lost 41 points this year, and Alonso got them.

So what?

Villeneuve who's an average driver manages to be World Champion because he was in the right car at the right time

so did Damon Hill and Rosberg (your countryman) in 1982

Was Villeneuve an average driver also when he won the IndyCar series in 95?

Kimi would have dominated this year if McLaren would have been as reliable as Renault was.

IndyCar <> F1
Otherwise Pablo would be much better

Of course if you put one of the 3 best drivers in the best car and have him finish all the races he'll probably be World Champion

But if he's that good (and I think he's) he'll be able to win without the best car (like Senna and Prost)

Except for the one that Schumacher won...

Alonso is the new king of cool, he doesn't allow himself to make critical errors under pressure.

The point systrem is also fucked up. It used to be that second place finisher would get only 6 points but now they get 8 points, that's 2 points less what the winner gets so if you can make good 20-30 point gap in the beginning of the season, like Alonso was able to do then basicly it will be enough to just place second in the rest of the races. Winning a race isn't as important anymore. Winner should be awarded with 12 points, if not 15.

Senna and Prost were (IMO) the best F1 drives ever. Senna the fastest, and Prost the smartest.

I agree that the points system is fucked. Instead of inflating them even more, though, I just wanna go back to the old top-6 system: 10-6-4-3-2-1.

I also prefer the old qualifying system where they have more than once chance to turn in a hot lap. I think that was more representative of what race-day performance is like.

Agree

and 1988 and 89 when they were both driving a McLaren Honda were 2 awsome seasons
