Is anyone on this board involved with disections or autoposy's first had? I doubt anyone is but Im curious as to if anyone has worked on an obvious steroid user. What are the differences between the steroid muscle vs a regular muscle. Are the joints more worn down from heavy weight. Are the bones really weaker from the calcium deffiency of roids, r livers inflamed, hearts, other vital organs? Like I said I doubt anyone can answer this but if so that would be great.

I asked a surgeon this same question about 7 years ago. He worked in Santa Monica... and was the guy who got most of the referal surgery for bodybuilders from Gold's Venice.

He didn't think that steroids were a very good thing for the body, but he was adamant that high dose GH was the worst thing he had ever seen. He said that when he cut guys open who had been on GH the organs were grossly enlarged and contributing to internal problems. (I think he was alluding to GH gut.)

I have no way of knowing if he was being reactionary... but he seemed like an honest, straight forward guy... and his negative emotional reaction to GH use was very pronounced.

(He was also an incredible surgeon. He cut me open on the table in his office while I was wide awake under only a local. He thought it was going to be a 30 second thing... no need for a full hospitalization. As soon as he cut me open he said, "Oh, no... this is much bigger than I thought. I should have scheduled you for the hospital." But, since he had already cut me open... he moved fast to finish it. I spent 45 minutes on the table watching the guy's hands move like lightning... most amazing surgeon I could ever imagine.) (But of course it was also a freak out to have surgery while you are wide awake. You can stillk feel all the tugging and prodding... just not the pain.)
