What's going on guys and girls? I'm trying to figure out how to patent an idea I have. I've done some research but I'm not sure what companies I can/cannot trust. There is a such a broad scope of charges for different companies. Do any of you have any experience with patents or inventions? Thanks

Be 100% sure that your idea is not published in any way, that means in other patents or articles, even school news papers. That will save you a lot of money. I dunno about patent companies in Hong Kong though.

I wish I was more help, but things I do know:

There is a patent that you can get for a year or so, and it costs around $100.

The more common patents you have to sift thru the garbage and fees, etc that total in the thousands.

Also, you can pay a firm to search if there is any patent close or would infringe on your idea. This is costly, but worth it in the long run.

I am currently working with a guy with 3 patents pending. If just one would take off we'd become rich overnight. Good luck.

oh, and btw trust no-one!

People turn easily when money is involved.

This leason will cost you 20% of your profitt. :-)

Thanks for the input. Have any of you used a company? I've seen some software that enables you to make your own patent, but looks shady. Do you know how i can find out if my idea is already patented without spending all my money. Thanks again

That's the hard part.
You pay a company to do a search for you. You could do it yourself, but there is a great chance you won't catch everything. I recommend it though before proceeding. Actually the patent office (don't remember where) researches it for us, but they charge a fee and no I don't remember how much.

Also the patent office is very strict about how you submit your patent idea. We had to revise our drafts and drawings 10 times or so before everything was correct enough for a patent.

I meet with this guy I'm working with on patents tommorrow, so if you need to ask me anything futher post up because he knows his stuff.

alien amp pharm, I appreciate all of your help. Since I'm new to the whole patent thing maybe you can find out a good reliable company that can research the patent for me.
Shoot me an email @ [email protected], Thanks again.
