padded envelopes and customs

Most of the internet sites from overseas when sending packages to US say they send "Discretely" What this means is breaking large orders in several different packages and sending in "padded envelopes"

Well the people working at customs aren't brain Surgeons but they are very good cops. After seizing 100's of illegal packages around the us in 1999 and 2000 when this on-line drug thing starting taking off they have sent faxes and e-mails on how to spot foriegn internet goods. It is now 2002 and by now ever customs officer in the US is very familar with all the signs of overseas drugs ...
Padded envelopes
Multiple small packages from the same source going to the same US address
Packages that "rattle" when shaken
ect ect
The only way packages get through is just plain luck in that they just can't search every box or envlope but what they mostly do is hold a package they think is illegal and wait for you to come and pick it up
The DEA and FDA have been tring to put a stop to the whole on-line drug thing ...several soctors in the US have been arrested for
writing scripts on-line
The fact is there is no safe way to get stuff from foriegn sources its all just plain luck ... role the dice and take a chance

A friend of mine received a package from a source. The dumb or very clever source wrote the contents on the outside of the package, and it even went through customs. LOL. Scary shit though
