I work on 42nd St. I first heard the news at around 0915. I was shocked, to say the least. Everyone in my office ran over to the windows, but we really could not see much.
I went outside and from 0929 to 1100 I was just standing on the corner of 42nd and 5th utterly amazed at how this can happen in my country, OUR Country!
I had to leave the city because my woman was to distraught.
I just can not imagine that something like this can happen and worse what can happen tomorrow.
I'm mad as hell! The People and Country can not stand for this. We must act use full military force as soon as possible. To show that the great US will not let these actions go unpunished, also to discourage future attacks.
It's sad that we only increase security measures when something like this tragedy happens. I remember the World trade center bombing a few years ago; I was there the day before for an interview, at around the same time too. Scary.
I'm a former Marine and I'm praying for the call, the call that they need me to come back. I took out all my old uniforms and polished my boots. I would not even think twice. This is a great country and it's up to all of us to keep it that way. Some people choose different ways to make their impact. But combined it is outstanding and a force to be reckoned. That’s why everyday millions of people try to come to this country. But you have to make it happen for you, no one will give you anything. What I mean is if you want something, go and get it. If you want to graduate HS, college, start your own company, be a bodybuilder, or bench 500 lbs. Just do it. The human mind if properly focused is by far the most amazing thing. I never wait for anyone to give me anything, if I want it I find a way to get it. I wish some of you knew me more personally, if you did you would know what I mean. Basically don’t think you can know you can.
This is one of the saddest days in US history, all those poor people. Doing nothing wrong, just showing up for work so they have a better life and to feed their families.
I'm babbling a bit but I'm furious and I guess still in shock.
I remember getting my Anthrax vaccine while I was in because of all the threats of anthrax being unleashed in our subways or where ever. Those of you who were in the military know about NBC. Nuclear, Chemical and Biological weapons. This stuff is no joke. We always had some sort of NBC training. They would also show us some of the effects some of these chemicals had and it is Shocking! The stuff us humans created and know have to worry about. I don’t want to disclose too much because it would be too much for the general public. Military member know what I am trying to say.
I can't help to think what will happen next. Is this it? Will we (the US) be able to thwart future attacks? Every year they cut Defense spending and cut it and cut it and cut it. Why can't people understand how necessary it really is? The US needs the best technology, the best equipment, and we already have the best people to protect all Americans. We are more advanced that they led the general public to believe, but when something like this happens I have to wonder.
I pray for all the people hurt in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, Pennsylvania, the people aboard the planes, all the families directly and indirectly affected, the police, the fireman, emergency services, the military, and everyone of you who make this country great.
