Our Good Will...Where is it?

With the Holiday Season in full force here goes! I am sure we all had similar experiences in the days, and weeks following 9-11. Those days that everyone seemed tolerant and had genuine concern for each other as fellow American's and human beings. The days we didn't mind waiting in line, or the day we went out of our way to get to know our neighbor that has lived next to us for 2 years. I use post 9-11 as an example because in my 27 years I can't recall another time that I was as proud to be a part of something bigger than our own little lives. I can't figure out why it takes a national tragedy to bring us together?
In that regard why does it take tragedy in general to bring out our goodness? Why does it take families to face death or serious illness to unite them. Do we forget how important these things really are without something horrible happening? I know one thing, the only truly tragic thing is the fact that any of this is true. I suppose believing this will ever change is a very childlike view, but I for one am all for trying!

I am curious what your thougts are on the subject, let me have em!

:)

My theroy is we get so caught up in our day to day lives that we loose focus of the big picture.... life! When you have bills, family, and work to keep you occupied 24/7 it's hard finding time to focus on things outside of that realm, and unfortunately it takes somthing like 9-11 for us to take a step back and say "hey, there is a world outside of my own".

That's just my .02 :D

If you ask me, those feelings you're talking about only lasted a week or so. People were so nice and polite. Now it's back to road rage or whatever shit.
it takes 3000 people to die for everone to act nice for a week.
