Okay, a lil background first. I have now been working as a web designer in the technology industry for 3 years gaining good experience working for a software development company doing web development on the client side from the ground up, such as brand identity, content management, all html, javascript, dhtml, css coding as so on. Also I have spent about 8 months freelancing for the likes of pfizer and aol time warner doing graphics and content management, navigation, color scheme etc.

Now for the past year or so I have REALLY begun to take a liking more like a loving to the whole health and fitness industry. I go home from work and read about the glycemic index as opposed to working on learning some new application for work. Now I do love what I do when I am working more on the graphical aspect of development but 7 months ago I got pushed out of my full time job now I have been surviving doing the freelance thing a few days a week, so I decided to get my physical training certification, but now as I have further pursued this speaking with numerous gyms, I see the demand and the level of commitement it takes to stay and be successful are higher than I expected.

Basically I'm at a crossroads in my career and I haven't a fuckin clue what to do, give up my career, my stability, 3 years of experience, for a passion that might be a risky venture and also I'm not quite sure I wanna work in a gym my whole life. I don't know???

Any suggestions??

Both! being out on the street that is more valuable then having a job I like, is there success and a demand and stability within the field of health and fitness? Is there growth potential?

plenty of fat people wanting to be skinny...

there will always be the picked-on in school
that want to bulk up and whip ass...

as long as people read M&F there is money

Agreed...it has been for me, anyway :D

I would have to say that you have to consider your current responsibilities in this decision.....are you married? have kids? have a mortgage to make?

If no, then I would HIGHLY recommend following your passion! Seize this opportunity!!! Be brave and go for it!

Of course I would do pro/con lists, pray, pray, pray, research, plan, focus, and strategize before doing ANYTHING.....THEN GO FOR IT!

:)

take some time to be quiet and REALLY look at your options. there are probably many roads you can take right now and the one that was meant for you will show itself if you can set your ego and fears aside. good luck

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I don't have any commitements as far as children, wives, whatever. I'm 24, I'm single but I just don't know if I wanna go the corporate route or the health and fitness route and see where it takes me?? I'm gonna try to ease my way into it, and see how it goes, but I know there will come a time when I have to decide one or the other.
