Operating lap tops with generator power?

hmmmmmmmmmm im getting a feeling that so long as your battery is plugged in, you can...

Some events last for 10 hours.

Looks like I need a UPS with automatic voltage regulation. The world of electronics is especially susceptible to inferior products being marketed.

With my investment in DJ gear, I want something that will not allow damage to my electronics.

So far....seems harder to find auto voltage regulation over 500 watts.

your power cord for your laptop will filter this for you bro, its an ac to dc converter and the only power going to your laptop is DC, so you will be fine running it from generator power, i have done it numerous times

Well it did mine. Never had a problem. I have a whole house generator (propane) and before that I had a 8000+ generator (gasoline) that I had mainlined into the circuit box to reverse feed the entire house. it never caused me any problems.

Some expensive generators supply clean power. If they are made to light up a house, they should supply clean power.

My generator was like $500...not sure how clean the power is.

buy a UPS and power the UPS with the generator. the battery in the UPS is regulated to provide VERY clean power and the generator will keep it charged.

Done

The unit I bought specifically dwells on its automatic voltage regulation capacities. Not all UPS units are very good about AVR.

I thought about a rack mountable unti but I do not want a damned 300 pound rack to lug upstairs. I'd have to tow it with mah pe*is.
