Opening amps

I know this topic has probably been discussed to the point of redundacy on here, and I now wish that I had paid closer attention when skimming over all of the threads I've seen about it in the past. But if someone doesn't mind taking the time to tell me, what is proper way to open an amp? I remember hearing some people say that they cut around them with a a serrated knife and then just break them off easily. Well, I got some farmak prop I'm on now, and it's my first time dealing with amps. The first night, i took a pretty sharp serrated kitchen knife and sawed and sawed on one of them. After about 15 minutes of this, it finally felt like the knife was making progress cutting into the glass a little bit, and after doing this all the way around, the top just kinda popped off while I was sawing. But, this takes a ridiculously long time, and I know there has to be a faster way. I called my buddy who is on sustanon amps right now and asked him what he does and he said that he just wraps it in a rag pretty snug and pushes on the top of the amp until it breaks off. So I tried that last night and while pushing, the entire amp crushed into the cloth and was wasted. So what is the proper way to do this, because I know that hospitals don't get out kitchen knifes and start sawing on amps before giving a shot, and I doubt that they wrap them up in cloth and hope for the best. What's the fool proof method?

haha. maybe a little nail file. all ya gotta do is scour around it a little and it breaks off easy. they do sell this special little plastic top to put over them and snap em off. don't use so much of your strength on it you brute

I have both and still struggle with those stupid amps.

Why can't people just put gear in vials like normal people.

Once I got so frustrated I put an amp in the micro wave, thought heating it would help open it.

It exploded in about 8 seconds, winny, glass, every fricken where.

I found that the amp opener is best for scoring the top and then nothing beats a ballpoint pen cap over the end of the amp and just snap it off. It helps to knock the little piece of plastic out of the end of the pen cap because then you can use the pen guts or a wire and push the top of the amp out of the bottom of the pen cap easily.

LOL........my son and i nuked a cockroach once, it ran faster than any cockroach i've seen in my life untill it flipped over dead. i turned it off before it exploded though.

yeah i us a file score it all the way around and the just snap it off. to easy.

put the amp in hot water and let it sit for a couple min. take it out and snap off the top. Comes right off !
