Only use 30g Protein per meal??

I heard from a few different sources that the human body can only absorb 30g of protein per meal. I personally wouldn't be so sure about the body only being able to absorb 30g of Protein. Take Ronnie Coleman for example. He sits in around 300-330lbs most of the year. Its a fact that you need 1.5g Protein per pound of bodyweight to maintain and build lean muscle. That means Big Ron would need AT LEAST 450g of Protein a day, and possibly a bit more to grow. He would prob have between 5-8 meals a day, depending on the time of year and if there is a competition coming up. If he only has 30g Protein per meal for 8 meals that means he only ate 240g Protein for the entire day. He would shrink!! He would have to stay up all night eating just to get close to his minimum target of 450g and prob still not get it! And he needs his sleep in order to repair damaged muscle and grow. So I am quite sure the body can absorb more than 30g Protein per sitting! Any thoughts?? This could make a great thread!

Any thoughts guys?? We might come up with some very interesting theories about how much protein we really should be eating everyday

Well, I've also heard your stomach can't hold a gallon of fluid, yet I drank and kept down over a gallon and a half of water a few years back as a bet (I wouldn't recommend it, my kidneys hurt for a week)...

A quick google search nets tons of info

The answer depends on your history. Your body adapts to your intake. This is well studied and documented. The World Health Organization has projects studying protein intake from more than a century of clinical trials. Their mission is to find solutions to stamp out third-world famine and understanding protein turnover is important for health and many other reasons.

Your body takes several days to adapt to an intake. The idea there is a limit per meal is not true. If you are used to consuming 20 grams and suddenly consume 200, then there is a chance that you are over-consuming. However, if you steadily consume 200 at a sitting, your body can adjust and adapt and begin to use it.
How much protein can my body absorb in one meal? for starters.

i have heard the body can only digest a certain amount of protein PER HOUR. i have heard that anything more than 25-30 is a waste - gets pissed out. i keep my servings around 20-30 and never take the full serving of protein powder - usually only half the suggest amount depending on the brand.

Well, your stomach wasn't holding the gallon and a half of water. It would have already been going through your system. Unless, you chugged the gallon and a half instantly? But with that said, every human body is different anyways.

They say you can't drink it in one sitting, Let me correct that statement, digestive system... and correct it wasn't instantly, it was about 3 minutes... and I HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST IT. Seriously screwed my electrolytes up, kidney/liver area pains, and lowered my core temperature too much to really be safe.

Fact?? says who? The protein shake companies? I only take in 75% to 1:1 and have been building lean muscle.

Whoever told you that doesnt know what theyre talking about.

My usual pwo meal alone has 120-150g protein.
