It's all the answer you need. A medical professional shouldn't be injecting a toxin into your face so you certainly shouldn't be doing it yourself at home... an overdose can kill you dead... easily... not to mention it can have all kinds of nasty interactions with OTC and prescribed medicines.
that's not entirely true. botox is not the devil.
Botox IS a toxin but it has been used for many years to combat facial wrinkles and the sign of aging. It does not kill you and it does assist with preserving a more youthful appearance. I'm all for it. For botox to cause serious harm, it would have to paralyze a muscle that would be required for life..say the diaphragm muscles for breathing. How would one take a tiny short needle and penetrate the chest cavity and be accurate enough to shoot this area? lol....totally impossible and just something nobody would do... but that was the only way I could think this compound could kill you.
I've also heard about botox parties where a hack doctor injects people's faces and they end up with crazy scarring, burning, whelts, infections....I've heard about it but never confirmed such athing to be true. so, I'd take the info as just a media story. The truth is your doctor is going to water down a vial for atleast 4 people, maybe more if he has no conscience about offering a good service for hard earned money. If he mixes the vial up at 9am for the first client, and you come in at the 4th hour....don't expect to get a discount, but do expect the treatment to not work well. Everyone knows the toxin dies after 4 hours of reconstitution...
I've been using it for >10 years and I look much younger than my age because of it. There are 2 uses I am certain are medically approved: 1: cosmetic. this is the way everyone hears about...getting injections around the crows feet, the forehead wrinkles, and some select odd wrinkle patterns. and 2: for other medically necessary conditions. I treated a man who had a traumatic brain injury which left his calf muscles in total contraction. In his case, the injections were in the achilles tendon area to relax the tendons to minimize contracture. It was done by a doctor and was medically approved.
Good luck to you. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look attractive and youthful. Just be safe and educated about it.

28 confirmed deaths between 89 and 03. Can cause adverse reactions like respiratory failure... if you can't summon help that = death. It can spread to sites other than injection site. Can cause pneumonia, headaches, migraines, dysphagia, allergic reactions...
I would strongly warn against injecting your own botox. If you insist you need it, let a doc do it.

While im not a fan of botox myself, if your that keen on digging up research to crucify stuff, start with naproxin and acetaminophen. Also consider penicillin comes from mold. Lot of good things come from apparent bad things.

And lots if dermatologists are anti Botox as poisoning your face to tighten up wrinkles is a bit out there. If someone wants Botox cool go to a pro don't order it online and inject yourself when it has common adverse effects
