Okay to tell the doc?

I'm about to go in get some blood word done. Curious if it's cool to the doc that I'm using A/S... I read in a post here that docs can tell authorities, but I assume that would be dealing more with psychiatrists in fear of patients harming themselves or others? So, would you guys think it's okay? btw, this is gonna be a totally new doc, never been to this guy before... Thanks

I wouldn't..thats just me though

It WILL be on record and your insurence co. WILL have access to this.....

Really no +'s in my opinion..............

I hate to tell you this, but unless you find an unscrupulous Dr that you know, you're out of luck.
THe day of hoping a new doc will bail you out is
gone. Besides this board is ultimately a hundred
times more efficient in the field study than a dr is
in the book study

sorry........hope this helps

I have to respectfully disagree. My grandfather was a doctor, and unless the field of medicine has changed drastically in the last 20 years, a doctor's primary concern is the well being of his patient. Besides, depending on the type of blood test and AS you use, he may be able to tell anyway. If you ask the doctor, hypothetically, if he'd place a note on your records if you confided in him and he assures you he won't, it's the best bet to trust him. Furthermore, it's important that your doctor knows so he'll know how to treat you should your blood test indicate any problems.

Well, I dont have to worry about Insurance going up as I dont have any. You say their are no +'s, but I would "THINK" different. Would'nt the doc be able to advise you better if he knew you were using gear? My main concerns are the authorities.. Can the doc tell popo about your "extra curricular activities?" Thanks again!!

I feel the doctor patient relationship has to be based on trust and confidentuality. Im lucky to have a doc that's a health nut and I openly discuss my gear usage with him with no worries. I feel if he's my doc, he needs to know what's going on in order to treat me while on or off cycle.

I'm not a lawyer, but my doctor told me that the doctor-client relationship is priveledged in the sense that you can tell him anything you want and he can't tell the authorities with the following exceptions: if you're planning on killing yourself, if you're abusing an elderly person, if you're abusing a child. Check with him. If you're worried, write him an anonymous e-mail and ask.
