How many of you could actually go out and play a game of backyard touch football and not get hurt or be sore the next day? I'd guess not too may.
I'm a prime example. I spent over a year building and trying to add size. Which meant no cardio (hardgainer). But now that I'm getting to a decent size, 6'2" 225 lbs, I've shifted focus to more athletic goals. A couple of weeks ago I started running for the first time in years. The muscles in my lower back had a tough time handling it. Not because I was weak or had an injury, they just weren't used to it. And the muscles in my feet were very sore from a new activity, kinda like your first day back in the gym after a year off.
Well, I'm doing pretty good running 2-3 miles now so I decided to run some sprints in the park on Saturday. I ran 6 50 yard sprints and was sucking wind big time. I planned on running 10 but just didn't fucking want more after 6. My hamstrings were tightening up, as well as my hip muscles. Today, once again, the muscles on the bottom of my feet are sore like I've just worked out for the first time.
So now that you're a swelled up juice pig, are you in better or worse overall athletic shape? For those that think they're in shape, I suggest you go run 6 full speed sprints at the park today and then tell me how in shape you are.
