Ok windows 2000 really blows ass

I bought a new laptop but the only problem is it runs windows 2000 pro, which is fucking ancient. I still have my old hard drive with XP pro on it but dont know how to copy XP onto my new hard drive. I already have an HD enclosure and have copied everything else I need but it didnt copy the XP. Anyone know how I can do this?? The person who can either get the XP from my old HD onto my new HD, or gets me XP pro free somehow, gets ALL my K.

I wouldn't know if Win2000 blows, but Win95 is the bee's knees.

Won't be able to plug and play XP without a fresh install on the new hardware. You will need a CD to wipe the drive on the laptop and start fresh. Can't just drag the OS to the new computer and it works... And win2k is actually good, but why is it on a laptop?

Bought this refurb dell on ebay, its a much better laptop than the one i had except it has win 2000 on it. Cant install a bunch of stuff like itunes because i need a newer OS.
Are you saying I have to wipe my new laptop clean of everything I have copied onto it, or can I get the XP upgrade CD and without having to lose everything all over again?

Not sure if you can do an upgrade to XP from win2k. Your best bet would be reformat that drive. So yes, you would need to recopy everything back onto the laptop. Either way you still need a O/S install disk for XP, Sorry bro really no easy way.

ok i will get the upgrade cd, should be able to work for me since it is an upgrade from an older OS. if that doesnt work then i will wipe it clean. thanks
