Ok, here is the situation...

Yes....first...fill up the 5 gallon jug and empty it into the 3 gallon jug...throw out the other two gallons.

then pour the water from the 3 gallon jug into the 5 gallon jug.

Then...fill up the 3 gallon jug and pour all that water into the 5 gallon jug leaving one gallon in the 3 gallon jug.

Then...completely empty the 5 gallon jug and pour the one gallon from the 3 gallon jug into the 5...leaving an empty 3 gallon jug and a 5 gallon jug with one gallon of water in it.

Then....fill up the 3 gallon jug and pour it into the 5 gallon jug...leaving 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
