Oil Tank Size ... Little Help???

I Told You So ...

Does anyone know how to calculate the size of an oil tank? It's in the basement, not underground. If you know of a calculator online, even better.

Up front, I'm a math moron, I admit that. And before someone gets clever and says "It's printed on the tank somewhere," yes, it was once, but it doesn't do any good when you can't read it, or even get a decent RUBBING from it.

Thank you dears, you know I'm good for K :qt:

Cylindrical tank? You have the measurements?

Just in case...http://www.visualtrig.com/Circles.aspx

Thank you! And consider yourself KISSED, TOO!!!

Glad to help MM. Thank you for the K as well.

If you get a chance send me the mesurements for my own practice. Most of our oil bunkers and diesel tanks are cylindrical and I need to keep in practice. Have to make those wormy engineers look bad always lol.

Well, guess what ... me stupid.

I know this sounds dopey, but you said cylindrical and I figured it was the same kind I had, which is shaped like this one:

Shit, that's SORT of cylindrical, isn't it? I didn't know they came in a bunch of different shapes :bawling:

So, you sweetie you, that calculator didn't help :worried:

I did find an equation and ballparked it, but ... remember, MM is not exactly the brightest bulb in the box when it comes to anything vaguely math oriented (hence not knowing an oval cylinder is not the same as a round cylinder).

It's an older tank (like everything in my house), so the size is weird, I've found a chart but it only has standard sizes. My tank measures:

44" H x 22" W x 74" long.

I think it's 245 gallons (I could be wrong) I know that when I have 1/4 tank 180 gal. doesn't fill it.

Oblongish, cylindrical lol. Give me some time MM. This is a fun one. A useful measurement would be from the beginning of the arc on both ends though, basically the length of the straight height.

276 U.S. Gallons

Agreed, they're most always ~275 and you usually get a price break if you buy 100-150 gallons. It about killed me last year but not so bad so far this year....
