Below is an edited excerpt from an email that I received earlier today from a work acquantence of mine. We are scheduled to have lunch together on Friday.

Everyone single woman I knew at BeltwayBandit, Very Large Wireless Corporation and Government Agency wanted to know if you were single. I would tell then to talk to you themselves, I wasn't a match maker. they would see you at conferences. So I will make a lot of ladies jealous if we are good buddies.

This person has no clue as to my preferences, but now I know this subject will come up during lunch. I am not going to hand out my personal information, because I will have to work with this person in the future.

But at some point, it's going to come to a head: Which Team Do I Play On?

This one is known for not keeping secrets, so my shit will be on the street in no time if I say anything.

On another point, it's nice to know I'm considered date material.

I appreciate the honesty Y. Maybe because I FEEL like I work with a bunch of bigots. That doesn't necessarily mean they are bigots. I don't feel comfortable with others at work knowing about my private life just yet. I think that's about to change though.

I am getting tired of expending energy on propogating a lie.
