Not getting along with a new housemate...

This dude moves in about a month and 1/2 after I have been living here... So I go downstairs to put my shoes on and then I look up and he is right there. Well, I shook his hand and greeted him but he had the weakest hand shake ever and for some reason, I just knew that he wasn't going to fit in with everyone else in the house. And a few weeks later, no one really gets along with this kid.. I don't know why... I wonder if there's people in this world who are automatically born a deterrent of people?

Anyone else have an experience like this, where they just don't get along with a housemate/roomate?

my roommate's in college were extremely anti-social, I mean the only times they would talk is to ask what was going on the night before and who are those chicks you brought home. I guess they were trying to get in on the action. My other roommate was a good friend from high school and we had some late night parties getting a little too scandalous for the other two. After about 8 months I became friends with one of the anti-socials, he was actually a cool guy just his priorities were school and work, and mine were partying, girls, and working out.

just give it time it took 8 months for my roommate to come out of his shell.

I'm going through this same shit right now. I never dormed at college, but this year because of a bunch of personal shit going on in my family, and getting sick of sitting in traffic I decided to dorm.

Well....I'm stuck with an anti social, smelly, wanna-be-thug (decked out in full ghetto style cloths) indian kid. If he showers once a day i'm lucky (he dont feel comfortable with communial showers...)

The only good side to all of this, is cause he is afraid of me after seeing me flip out on somebody else in our dorm, so he wont put anything in the fridge we share (no space after all my protien drinks are in there), he wont answer our phone when I'm not there cause its my phone, and he NEVER touches my TV.

So just to add to his anxiety I changed the screen saver on my computer to read "Touch me and I'll Break your hands"

This is going to be an 'interesting' year....

lol, the funny thing is that my Norwegian roomate asked me if I was going to cut his throat with my CRKT M-16 Knife.

But this dude is totally weird.... he smokes sooo much pot, and then watches TV with us and laughs hysterically at nothing whatsoever... and then he blairs the radio listening to Pink Floyd or The Who, while he sits staring at the wall in the dark... he's fucking weird.

well at least he's social and watches tv with you. I been feeling like shit, so i was sleepin most of the day, me roomate gets in and starts plaing playstation, i get up to go eat say whats up, he ignores me and continues to sit on the corner playing playstation for the last 2 hours! I really dont know if I can deal with this for an enitre year.

I'd love to get a roomate that I get along with. Unfortunately since I just transfererd into this school, I didnt have to option to pick who i was going to be sharing a room with. I tried for a while to make the best of it, but I've come to the conclusion that some people are just plain anti-social and just want to sit around and do their own thing not talking to anyone....

This school year cant end quick enough!
