I think a lot of times it depends upon your diet. If I eat fairly clean and do a cutting cycle I can tighten/tone up pretty well and keep my strength up if not even gain a little. But, when I start getting ready for shows or what not and kick the diet into super-strict high-gear my strength falls off the map pretty damn fast no matter what & how much gear I'm taking. That's ok though, because that's what it takes to get shredded. Have to give a little to gain. As soon as you throw some more calories and carbs in the picture again afterwards you'll be right back to where you were if not better off.
