There has been much speculation regarding Halo 2's release date since we announced the game last year. The fact is we don't like announcing release dates unless we're certain we'll meet the deadline.

We're still not ready to pick a specific release date, but we do want to state for the record that Halo 2 will not ship in 2003. This game is a vast undertaking, considerably more complex than any of our previous efforts, and there is just no way to squeeze all of the necessary work into this calendar year. We know many of you were hoping to get your hands on Halo 2 during the holiday season, and we're sorry to disappoint you - but making this game as good as we possibly can is our paramount concern. Microsoft understands and supports our decision, and we hope you will too. Our ultimate goal is to make Halo 2 a great game; when the game comes out next year, we think you'll agree we made the right choice.

Of course, you'll be able to get a small taste of the glories we have in store when we show Halo 2 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in May. And there is Halo for Mac and PC, still on track for a 2003 release with several new features and content. There is lots of exciting stuff on the way for Halo fans.

As always, we invite you to check back with us here at Bungie.net regularly for the official word on all things Halo, straight from the developers.

im disappointed but im sure it will be worth the wait.

My son just expressed extreme disappointement with that news. Patience is a virtue. One of the few games my son and I really enjoyed playing together.

Bungie makes awesome games. Since I used to be a Mac gamer, I've always been a huge fan of their stuff.

I feel like if they're delaying it, it'll be worth the wait.

SHIT!!!

Oh well, at least the game will be as solid as possible.

Will have to get by with Halo PC until then, I guess. They better be including 32-64 multiplayer with teh PC version.

Marathon? No, I can't say I've played it. Is it any good? I'm always on the look-out for quality games to play.

It's an older game, for the Mac and PC. It was really the first 3D shooter, and was pretty revolutionary in its day.

Might be fun for a nostalgia kick, but it pales in comparison to games like Unreal now.

:bawling:

This fuk'n sucks! I hardly play video games during the summer, but play all the time during the winter/cold. The late 2003 release date was going to be perfect.

Now it'll probably come out spring of 2004 knowing my luck, then I'll waste the entire summer being addicted to that game.

oh man, bungie absolutely owns. Ive been playing their shit from Minotaur, to Myth III. The Marathon Trilogy was the best FPS until like 4 years later, Myth was just insane, especially with bungie.net, and ONI was really sick too

I was really pissed when microsoft bought bungie and made them only release halo for XBOX instead of PC... that furthered my dislike of MS..
