Nizoral - 1% vs. 2%

There is OTC and prescription strength Nizoral. I have been using the OTC and I have found that it dries out my hair ALMOST to the point where it is not worth using. However, I have found it works very well with regards to preventing hairloss. So... I am tempted to get some of the prescription strength, since the OTC works so well. However, I am hesitant because I am worried that the prescription strength will dry out my hair even more.

Is it the ketoconazole or the inert ingredients that is drying out my hair? Following this question... will 2% Nizoral dry out my hair more than the 1%?

Thanks!

JJ

i use both. my "hair cycle" looks like this:
1% days 1-5
2% day 6
head and shoulders day 7
then repeat

i dont notice any difference after i use the 2%. i've actually heard a lot of people say they dont notice any difference either.

Thanks for your input, why do you "cycle" it like this?

i use the 1% 5 days a week because its OTC shampoo. i add in the head and shoulders because i read somewhere that there is a synergye effect between the two. im not sure if there is or not, but i also like the idea of giving my hair a day off. i add the 2% once a week just in case it really is better than the 1%.

i dont notice less hair in the shower drain the day after i use the 2%, so thats why i think the 1% is just as effective. however, it could take a little time of consistently using the 2% before it kicks in. so maybe it is better. i'll have to experiment some more on my next cycle.
